This is a common parenting question. Why doctor today recommends not to use Conventional cough syrup with antihistaminics in children?
Why is there a change is the treatment compared to before?

Because,
AAP has recommended against the use of cough syrup and antihistaminics in less than 4 yrs children.
Studies have shown that cough syr increase morbidity including pneumonia in chilldren.
Honey can be used in >1 yr children.
