Why somatic pain is localized and visceral pain diffuse?

Visceral organs in the abdomen transmit sensory afferent stimuli to both side of the spinal cord. Moreover, visceral pain is poorly localized due to lower number of nerve endings in visceral organ than other organs such as the skin and since the innervations of viscera is multisegmental.
